OGX Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Mist Review and Care For Bleached Hair
4:55 AMYou can't just blast your hair with so many chemicals, leave it screaming for TLC and do still nothing. Achieving and maintaining blonde hair is a lot of work.
This is how I care for my hair after having it bleached...and a little review of this product called: Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Mist by OGX.
Look at how fragile my hair is when wet |
Before I continue I, here is a little disclaimer. I am not a hair dresser. I am sharing my own personal experience, which may or may not apply with another person.
Moving on, I am currently trying to achieve platinum/white cool, Frozen's Elsa-like kind of blond. It is not easy. It actually takes multiple stages of bleaching. I have bleached my hair three times already ON MY OWN, each session two-weeks apart. Why am I doing it by myself. Haha, it is expensive to get it done at a salon and I have seen many women on YouTube do it by themselves.
For my fourth time, I finally had it done at a salon because there are many stubborn dark patchy areas. And finally my hair is pale yellow, yay almost there! Now I am just waiting for my toner to arrive at my doorstep so I can lift this brassiness away.
Thank goodness my hair and scalp are still intact so far. But, but, but I have to admit that my hair is super stiff at the ends. I only wet and shampoo my hair once every three days but whenever I do, it soaks up a lot of water and it gets really stretchy--literally--like wet yarn or rubber band. If I pulled it harder it could snap! And it takes so much time to dry. If I leave it to air dry, it would still be damp even after 12 hours. I am not exaggerating.
In short, I have subjected my hair to a harrowing ordeal by bleaching it a lot of times. So, here are the things that I do to prevent further damaging my hair and nursing it (hopefully) back to life.
1. Shampoo only 2x in a week and whenever I do I use a deep conditioner, which I let stay on my hair for 3-7 minutes before I rinse it.
2. I let it dry with a fan or hair dryer on cool--NOT HOT--setting. Wet bleached hair easily breaks so I let it dry as fast as I can. If I let it air dry, I try my best not to touch it or comb it. If I have to comb it, I use a wide-toothed comb.
3. I don't tie it into a pony tail or bun until it is 100% dry.
4. I use Keratin treatment once or 2x a week.
5. And...I generously use this product called Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Mist from OGX, which is my next topic.
I am glad that I found this product. True to its name it is indeed weightless and it does not give an oily feel to your hair. It does make my hair more manageable and it tames flyaways. I spray it over wet hair or dry hair and every time my hair feels dry. It is an instant relief or like a first aid kit to the strands of hair that feel stretchy after shampooing. You can really see the difference.
A close look at the frizzy ends of my hair. |
It looks and feels better with the coconut oil mist from OGX |
It has a sweet scent that I find too strong. The scent is overpowering if you have sprayed a lot but it does not stay like that for too long. And it is bearable. If you can stand the smell of bleach then you will find the scent of this product 100x nicer. I use it a little lesser if I am very near my husband because he said he does not like the idea of me smelling like coconut bread. But that is him... it still depends on you.
Lastly, it is light enough that you can actually spray it on your hair. I spray it on the top of my head but for my frizzy ends, I spray it on my hand and rub it on.
This is how the product looks, if you are interested. (note: I am not endorsing it. I am not paid to blog about it. I just use it--A LOT.
A closer look |
I am also planning to do a bleach bath for my last and final bleaching before I usE Wella T18, which I will later write about.
